My favourite magazine.
I am interested in biology and animals and one of my favourite magazines is „Zwierzaki”. I like reading this magazine because there are very good articles about all kinds of animals and the photographs are really exciting.
Each issue is constructed according to the same pattern. There are several big articles about various species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians or even insects. The articles are quite long with a lot of useful and interesting information. They are accompanied by many colour pictures. The pictures show animals in various everyday activities but there are also some extraordinary pictures showing unique situations. Those photographs are really worth seeing.
There are also several regular columns in “Zwierzaki”. One of them is entitled “Endangered Species” and is devoted to animals which are close to extinction. In each issue a different species is described. We can read about their habits, the food they eat and the way they get it. We can watch the way they bring up their babies and watch their struggle to survive.
Another regular column “The secrets of the nature” deals with all kinds of mysterious things connected with the animal world. From this column we can learn why some spiders spin their every day whereas other make their webs look like exotic flowers. By reading this column we can solve some scientific problems without even moving from the armchair.
There is also a regular called “My Friend”. In this column we can read about children’s pets. I especially like this column because it is very personal and the descriptions of beloved animals are very often funny. Here, too, we can find many interesting pictures of pets and their owners.
At the end of each issue there is “At First Paw” – a column devoted to news concerning animals from all over the world. And finally, there are letters from the readers. In these letters people ask for information about some rare species, want some clues how to train a baby lizard or write about problems connected with the pollution and devastation of the environment.
Inside each issue there is a spread edited by a cat named Prószek. In this spread there are again many letters from the readers usually devoted to Prószek’s questionnaires. We can also find many competitions, quizzes and riddles there. For those who would like to have a pen-friend there is a section with the addresses of children from various places in Poland. And finally there is a crossword and a comic about Cat Prószek.
I enjoy reading Zwierzaki because it is published on good paper and the quality of the pictures is also very good. By reading the articles I can learn many intriguing facts about the animal world and I can use them when I have to write a paper in biology. I am keen on doing crosswords and the one from Zwierzaki is my favourite. And what is more I have found a very nice pen-friend via Zwierzaki. We exchange letters very often and we really enjoy it.
