Going to the theatre.
People consider the theatre exclusive entertainment. Maybe it is because the tickets are expensive, maybe because going to the theatre requires a kind of special preparation, as we dress in a more elegant way. We do not go to the theatre as often as we go to the cinema, because plays run for longer periods. We must plan the evening we want to spend in the theatre a month or two earlier. When the play is by a famous writer or popular actors take part in it, the tickets for the whole season are sold in one week. In the theatre the atmosphere of a feast prevails. The audience, dressed in smart clothes, waits for the play to begin, and when it begins, nobody says even a word. They look at the actors performing on the stage with respect and attention. When the play is preformed in a splendid way, the audience applauds. They always applaud at the end of the act and at the end of the whole play. Sometimes the audience gives actors a standing ovation. This is the highest indication of appreciation an actor or actors can get from the audience.
Some people say that do not like going to the theatre, they do not give any particular reason. Others say they do not like planning their evening so early not knowing if their plans will change.
But there are also many people who cannot live without the theatre. The theatre is their life. There are also some people who want to be fashionable. They want to have something to talk about, something to boast about. But maybe someday they will find out that they start to like the theatre and the next time they will go there not because they have to but because they want to. The theatre is so special that words cannot describe it. Everyone has to experience it personally.
