How to learn.
Often we do not use all the facilities of our brain in the process of learning. In fact we use only a small amount of the brain’s capacity and possibilities. To memorize effectively we should control our intellectual processes. We should select what is worth remembering and what is not worth it. Such a selection is very important. Then, the chance of preserving data in our memory is higher. We ought to concentrate only on the facts we want to keep in mind. While learning it is good to associate the facts or data with pictures in our imagination. For instance, to remember a name we associate it with an object.
Even if we have memorized something, it is important to revise it from time to time. Without refreshing our memories, they will be wiped out. If we do not revise the fact, after some time we will not remember it, the information will be completely lost. Training can improve our ability to learn but such training gives the best results when we are children. That is why the teachers at school ask us to learn poems by heart. Unfortunately, later on, the process of learning and memorizing becomes harder and more difficult. But not impossible!
At a later age it is also important to train our brain and our memories. Older people should solve crosswords or play some board games which involve thinking and planning ,and therefore train their brain. It prevents them from getting old, loosing their memories and become at some point dependant to others.
